BATHROOMS & FLOORS

Hand-Applied Microcement

Microcement is not a standard building material; it is an architectural finish. Applied entirely by hand over multiple days, it creates a seamless, monolithic skin over floors, walls, and wet areas. Inherently tactile and completely waterproof, it frees spaces from the constraints of grout lines and joins. Every trowel mark is intentional. Every surface is one of one.

THE MATERIAL

One surface. No interruptions

Microcement is a hand-applied mineral surface – layered by trowel, built up over several coats, and ground to a seamless finish. Unlike rendered walls or tiled floors, it has no grout lines, no joins, and no edges where water can penetrate. Applied from floor to ceiling, it turns a bathroom into a single continuous form.

Suited to wet areas, kitchens, and full-floor residential and commercial applications. Dune works in both new builds and renovation contexts, with experience across Queensland heritage homes, contemporary apartments, and boutique hospitality fit-outs.

WET AREAS

Waterproof by nature.

Waterproof without membrane or sealer breakdown, microcement is purpose-built for wet areas. Showers, bath surrounds, and vanities – finished as one continuous surface with no grout to fail, no silicone to replace, no mould trap.

Applied directly to prepared substrate, it bonds to concrete, fibre cement, and plasterboard. Dune completes wet-area applications as a full system: substrate preparation, waterproofing membrane, multiple microcement layers, and final seal. Guaranteed waterproof on completion.

FLOOR APPLICATIONS

A quiet foundation.

Dune has completed full-floor microcement applications across open-plan living areas, warehouses, hospitality venues, and retail fit-outs. The material is hard-wearing, low-maintenance, and develops a natural patina over years of use rather than degrading.

Applied in one continuous pour, the floor has no movement joints or grout lines to crack or discolour. Suitable for both residential and commercial foot traffic, sealed to a matte or satin finish depending on use.

OUR COMMITMENT

Surfaces that hold.

Every microcement finish we apply is built to outlast the space it inhabits. Not through hardness alone, but through considered preparation, careful application, and honest materials. We stand behind every surface we finish.

BEGIN A PROJECT

Every surface starts with a conversation.

Whether you’re an architect, designer, or homeowner, we’d be glad to discuss your space. Initial consultations are by appointment, in Brisbane or on-site.
